Scottsboro Lions Club is presently involved in an environmental project to restore the American Chestnut tree. The American Chestnut tree has been under attack for many years by a blight that kills the young trees.

The project requires the purchase of seedlings, planting them in a proteted area and mainteance to water and feed the trees.

Lions Mark Pierson and Dr. Gary Speers, Principal at Brownwood Elementary School, are pictured here on the grounds of Brownwood Elementary School after planting American Chestnut seedlings.

The SCOTTSBORO LIONS CLUB have now begun a project with the hope of restoring the American Chestnut tree.

Several stands of the seedlings have now been planted throughout Scottsboro.
