Past District Governor Ron Seybold installed the new officers for the Scottsboro Lions Club for 2019-2020 effective July 9, 2019. PDG Seybold had his characteristic “top hat” and presented a pop-up “top hat” to outgoing President Elna Mathews in recognition of the outstanding job she has done during the past year as President of the Scottsboro Lions. She alone brought in 4 new members, and led the Scottsboro Lions through an spectacular year including continued expansion of eye glass distribution which has become one of the most significant activities of the club. Focus on eyesight has always been one of the most prominent efforts and includes providing eye exams and eye glasses for about 60-70 Jackson Country residents annually.
Lions Club Lion Tamer Reba Casteel presents PDG Ron Seybold with her famous banana pudding. Lion Casteel has fed many a Scottsboro Lion with her world’s best banana pudding, as well as her famous hot dog slaw for the Annual Hot Dog Supper, over many years; and she in recent years has maintained order in Lions meetings as Lion Tamer.”
Incoming Scottsboro Lions President Phil Kimmel presents a gift to outgoing President Elna Mathews for her truly outstanding service as 2018-19 President. As President she superbly exercised excellent leadership, and oversaw one of the most successful years (the 80th year) in the history of the Scottsboro Lions. President Kimmel stressed that communications will be a key to his term as Club President.
